"LOVED it, ruined it and am buying another...sigh..." 2010-02-16
By Java Mama (Southern California)
I owned the 6-cup Moka for quite some time and absolutely loved it. I only hand rinsed it with water and stored it dry and disassembled. Even with all of this attention and care I managed to ruin it, but I'm back buying another and will be more careful this time.

While using the Moka on my stovetop I either answered the phone, tended to one of the kids' needs (or both?) and allowed it to boil over. Not just a little. A LOT. I'm talking huge mess, burned gasket and a horrible smell. Even after replacing the gasket the pot smelled like burned rubber. The resulting coffee tasted about as bad as the smell. I tried rinsing all of the metal parts with white vinegar. It didn't help at all. I tried letting it soak in vinegar water but the smell remained. I finally gave up and am buying another.

This time I'm getting a 3-cup Moka simply because I never needed the 6-cup capacity. I can't wait for it to arrive. I hope any future emergencies will wait until after Mom has had her coffee.

 "Outstanding Product!" 2010-02-01
By T. L. Allen (Albuquerque, NM)
The Bialetti Moka Express is simply an outstanding product that produces very strong coffee every time. Why spend $100s or $1000s for a machine when you can get the same very strong coffee for so much less!

"Makes good coffee, but Brikka is best" 2010-01-31
By J. Albin (NJ)
There is no denying that this pot makes some darn good coffee. I like it better than most drip and french press. However having tried the Brikka prior to this, it is the winner hands down. I was under the impression that the Moka Express would taste the same as Brikka just with less crema. I was wrong, the Brikka simply produces a better brew. I'm convinced it has something to do with the patented valve system, exclusive to the Brikka, which pressurizes the brew as it bubbles up into the main chamber.

 "Wonderful . . . when it works." 2010-03-01
By jill usa (Pennsylvania)
I received the B70 as a Christmas gift and was thrilled. It took a while to find a coffee strong enough for my taste, but once I tasted Emeril's Big Easy Bold, I was hooked. Unfortunately, within one month my machine malfunctioned like so many others. It would make a loud noise like it was trying to work and then shut off. I called customer service and they sent a new machine. It worked for less than a week! I called again and they sent a second replacement. I was told that the problem had been resolved and I should have no more problems. Unfortunately, though, I have had this third brewer for just over a week and it is already shutting down automatically. I am so disappointed. I like it enough that I don't want to give up on it . . . but, really, enough is enough.

"Do not buy this Keurig!" 2010-03-01
By David Bango (Royal Oak, MI)
I purchased my first Keurig B70 Brewing System at Costco around January 1st of 2010. Initially, I loved the machine. The coffee was good, it is very convenient and I love the selection of K-Cups that are available. One month later, the unit started acting up. I would make one cup, and then the Keurig would try to pump water from the reservoir and then fail. This caused the machine to shut off. Restarting the machine typically works and would allow me to brew another cup, but this was obviously unacceptable. I then returned the Keurig B70 to Costco and got another one of the same model. Now approximately one month later the new machine is doing the same thing: the Keurig tries to pump more water from the reservoir and fails. This is a poorly designed product and I can only assume that a very large percentage of this model are defective. I will be returning this one to Costco as well and will not buy another one unless they are carrying a different model. It looks like Keurig may be discontinuing this model, hopefully they have identified the defect in the design. Avoid the Keurig B-70 at all costs, unless you want to waste $140 and be very frustrated.

 "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY !" 2010-02-27
By D. Wisbey (Bristow, VA)
Please folks, don't waste your money. If you want a trendy cup of Joe, take $170 in singles and use it to make a fire to boil the water. Results will be the same. I've had two of these Platinum Home Brewers - still not happy. The first one (a Christmas gift) worked for about a month before it stopped pulling water from the tank and then shutting off. After weeks of "telephone diagnostics" with Keurig Customer Service...which is only available from 9-5 by the way, so you have to take off work and be at the coffee machine...we grew angry enough and cussed so much that they mailed us a replacement / exchanged the brewer. Guess what, this new one is exhibiting the same behavior now. Brewing only one cup of coffee must be a feature I didn't see in the fine print. I give up. What a waste of money on my part. Looking at this shiny blue and silver ornament on my countertop makes me angry every time I look at it.

One might infer that it's user error, but we've tried tap water, filtered water, bottled water...water water. I have also done everything the customer service department recommended. Frustrating as Hell trying to get a simple cup of coffee before you go to work in the morning and watching the stupid thing shut off right in front of you.

We've reverted back to a simple, Mr. Coffee machine. Old school, but it works just fine.

I couldn't be more dissatisfied with this product. Before you buy, check out Keurig's website...look for the "customer service" or "feedback" section to try and reach them electronically. Guess what - it doesn't exist. Coincidence? Only way to get in contact with them is by braving the 1-800 phone tree...Good luck with that. Have 3-fingers of something soothing before you dial in...

"mr. coffee thermal coffee pot" 2010-02-13
By Barbara T. Brock
Having bought several times Mr. Coffee products, this time it was most disappointing. Coffee never came down hot unless we did the whole 8 cups and even then was not hot coffee. Called the manufacturer and was told the best thing to do was to fill the thermal with boiling water BEFORE we made coffee each time ! How rediculous to have to cope with making coffee like that. Fortunately I was able to return it as it was not satisfactory at all. I rate this product at a zero. What ever happen to Mr. Coffee's designers????

"I love this coffee pot" 2009-12-30
By Susan C. Hunnicutt (San Antonio, Texas)
I bought this coffee pot about six months ago after my first thermal pot developed an electrical problem. I searched for thermal coffee pots all over town and the internet before choosing this pot. I chose it because of the price, and the design.

I do freelance editing work, and often drink coffee while I am working very early in the day. The thermos is wonderful because after brewing, the coffee maker shuts off. There is no heating element, so the coffee stays hot for several hours without boiling/ evaporating away. I can make a pot, and have fresh, hot coffee for several hours.

I seldom use the programmable features, and I don't really need a clock on my coffee maker. I would probably buy a pot with fewer bells and whistles if I could find the thermos I liked. But for the price, this is a great choice.

 "Makes weak coffee" 2009-12-23
By Carina Macdonald (Michigan)
I bought a replacement for this after about a month of use because the coffee is disappointingly weak and lacking in flavor - the water doesn't seem hot enough. I got tired of using twice the normal amount of coffee to get my two cups of joe in the morning - and no matter what, it made good Sumatra taste like Folger. Quite disappointed; I've had good luck with other non-thermal carafe Mr Coffee machines in the past (and in fact, that's what I just replaced this one with.)

Also the lid is a bit of a pain to get used to - what's wrong with traditional screw-on lids? Those work very well. And finally, the spout is poorly designed and it's really hard not to drip coffee all over the counter when pouring.

I could have lived with the last two flaws, but couldn't take the weak, nasty-tasting coffee. I would not recommend this if taste is a priority. It did keep the coffee reasonably hot for an hour or so, but you have to "pre-warm" the pot with hot water to keep it hot for longer.

"Great still works wonderful after almost 5 years" 2009-12-21
By E. Sack
We are actually getting ready to upgrade to a nicer 12-cup maker so I was on amazon checking out reviews and thought I would share how great this machine has been for us. I have had it almost 5 years now and it still works wonderfully. It is easy to use and the carafe keeps coffee hot for about 3 hours. We are heavy coffee drinkers and it has held up great for us. I am going to pass this on to my brother when we gets our new one cause it still works great.
