The pot is well made. I would have liked a slightly heavier gauge but in reality it's not necessary. I will qualify my review with "we use it for camping only." I got tired of the cup at a time plastic REI setup and upgraded to this so I wouldn't spend too much of my AM time making coffee for everyone.
The bummer on this pot is the plastic dome. I ordered 2 glass ones when I got the pot. The one from Goodman's came properly packaged in a box the other one came in an envelope and was DOA. I'd recommend looking for a small town general store to buy one from and save the bone crushing postage.
You need to use the proper grind for a percolated coffee pot without a course grind you will end up drinking sludge when you get to the bottom 1/3 of your cup. When the water boils and the percolating process begins; turn down the heat on your coffee pot! The water should boil so it percolates, not sound like a locomotive running at full speed.
I like very strong coffee and even with the basket totally full and the right dark roast beans I can't get the stomach searing full flavor that I get from my home machine. For this I rate the product 4 stars. For those of you who like standard brewed coffee, this shouldn't be a problem.

We purchased this percolator to replace our electric drip maker. My wife mainly uses it and so far she likes it. We haven't used it enough to see if the plastic bulb at the top has any problems as some reviewers have said. If so, we'll purchase the glass replacement. This percolator seems to make better coffee than the drip models. Probably because the water actually boils and is immediately sent through the coffee. We use it on our gas stove and it works fine. Just follow the instructions... as others mentioned, wet the strainer before putting in coffee to avoid grounds in your finished drink. Let the water boil, then turn down to low for 5-7 minutes. So far, we like this one...

Was aware of lid falling off & easy workaround(simply bend the prongs on lid out.) No problems there.
Wanted glass percolator top-- (OEM percolator top is plastic.) The "Fitz-All"--model 135- glass percolator top (recommended by amazon.com) fits onto the original lid just fine.
***You don't need to buy the recommended `replacement lid' to have the glass percolator top!*** :)
As others mention, biggest drawback is no fill indicators for water inside pot. Worse is fact that fill marks on outside are hidden behind the handle! (Not a very good design imo.) For DYI types, I'll share how I got indicator marks on inside of coffee pot at end of review.
Summary:
If you're on a budget, this coffee maker & recommended glass percolator top might be "best bang for your buck." For those who want fill marks & glass percolator top ready made... best look at other brands.

Workaround for fill marks:

Don't want to keep guessing at amount of water when half awake? Following is one way to get fill marks to show on inside of pot. As with any DYI project, caution is the word & do so at your own risk to possibly denting your coffee maker!
1.) Remove handle. 2.) Notch a 2x4 for rim of coffee pot so that the wall of pot sits *flush* on the wood. 3.) Secure 2x4 to vice, use C-clamps on workbench, etc. 4.) Position coffee pot on 2x4 so that outside fill marks face up. 5.) Position small finishing screwdriver on horizontal fill marks. (IMPORTANT: Blade of screwdriver MUST be same width as fill marks, or risk denting wall of coffee pot!) 6.) Use rubber mallet or small hammer to lightly but firmly tap screwdriver positioned on each outside fill mark. 7.) Examine inside of pot. Fill lines visible? If not be patient & repeat. Took me three careful taps before I could see them, but didn't want to risk denting outside by tapping too hard.

Overall - Pretty Good
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there are no fill level marks on the inside of the percolator. The fill marks are stamped on the outside of the percolator, under the handle, and are unusable. It took a few pots to figure out the right fill level. Other than that, it works great. It makes coffee quickly and the coffee tastes great. It works much better than any electric coffee maker I've used.

My parents wanted a new percolator because their old one past away. So after reading a few reviews, this Copco percolator seemed like it would be a solid buy. And to be honest, it was. Even though I don't care for coffee myself, my parents are quite content with the coffee this percolator makes.
