I have been using an aluminum percolator for 10+ years. They are great for camping but have the tendency to boil over if not attended. I purchased this stainless steel percolator and when I received it I was very pleased. It is made of a heavy gauge steel, well constructed, a vent hole in the lid for steam, and a stay-cool handle. I use a gas stove top and can put the flame on a size fitting the bottom of the pot (on mine, it's low, only a 3) and it will go from water and ground beans to a rich, full-bodied coffee in 35 minutes...and never boil over or need the flame adjusted. I would highly recommend this percolator to anyone who truly enjoys coffee, versus the slightly bitter and burned flavor I tend to get from an electric percolator or a drip coffeemaker. Only bad thing for me is it is a 12-cup, and that's 12--8oz. cups not the mug size I use. I would have liked if it were available in a 16-18 cup. I will purchase one if I see it.
