I like my coffee stronger than many people, and metal/electric pots just are not up to the task. I am a firm believer in glass coffee-pots, and the Modelco makes a great cup of coffee. There is no oily residue - you can watch the coffee brew (not boil) - the odor is incredibly inviting.
My only concern is the plastic bubble in the middle of the lid. I have 7 of these pots (glass chips/breaks, so I always have replacements ready), and the lid-bubbles have all cracked and leaked. I have been unsuccessful in finding replacements. I suggest that the manufacturer return to the old-fashioned glass bubble. Other than that, I love my Modelco(s) and recommend this product to all coffee drinkers.

I wanted to go back to a percolator but the electric ones were pricey. So I did a search and found the modelco 8 cup. The price was right and all the reviews I read were promising. So I got it. I am so glad I did. It makes a great cup of coffee. The drawbacks? Takes a while for the water to get hot enough to percolate so I suggest putting the coffee on first then go about doing your morning routine. When you are done so is the coffee. Also be sure to have course ground coffee to put in the basket, and it is glass so you have to take care not to bang it up too much. Be sure to use the little metal trivet for electric stoves.
